Background and Experience:
Nakoto Rentz is an accomplished Cost Consultant and the Principal/CEO of Venue, bringing nearly 30 years of experience to the planning and execution of complex cultural and performing arts projects across the United States and internationally. Since joining Venue in 2013, he has played a critical role in the cost control of some of the most successful performing and cultural arts facilities in the industry.
As CEO of Venue, Nakoto is responsible for guiding the firm’s strategic vision, fostering client relationships, and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality, design-phase cost consulting services across the U.S. and abroad.
Nakoto began his construction career with a multinational construction management and general contracting firm, as well as a Florida-based, family-owned commercial and residential contractor. These early experiences provided him with hands-on knowledge across a wide range of building types, including hospitals, public schools, houses of worship, and custom homes.
Throughout his career, Nakoto has collaborated with design and construction teams on over 100 complex projects, managing budgets ranging from $10 million to more than $500 million.

Charlie is a Senior Cost Consultant and Director of Technology Innovation and Optimization at Venue, responsible for guiding design teams to design projects to budget and applying new and existing methods to do so even more accurately and efficiently.
Background and Experience:
Charlie Jelke is an accomplished Senior Cost Consultant credited with over 15 years of experience in estimating and over 5 years of cost consulting in the commercial construction industry.
In 2006, while Charlie was still in high school, he began his construction career in cost estimating for his family’s steel fabrication business. From there, he moved to steel subcontractors in the Philadelphia area where he gained hands-on experience in both cost estimating and project managing for awarded projects from start to finish.
Charlie transitioned to cost consulting in 2018, budgeting projects for aviation, offices, labs, hospitals, and cultural arts, ranging from a few million to upwards of $7 billion.

Cathy is a Senior Cost Consultant at Venue, responsible for guiding design teams to design projects to budget.
Background and Experience:
Cathy Byrd is an accomplished Cost Consultant credited with highly successful performing arts projects under her cost control belt, spanning a 35 year career.
Cathy has worked in the construction industry since 1980, primarily in the commercial segments, with a heavy emphasis in complex renovations and historic restorations. She entered the construction industry as an estimator in the subcontracting trades while attending the University of Colorado majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.

Ryan is a Senior Cost Consultant at Venue, responsible for guiding design teams to design projects to budget.
Background and Experience:
Ryan Scott, BS, is a Senior Cost Consultant with Venue credited with highly successful projects under his cost control belt, spanning a 28-year career.
Ryan’s formative years since he started in 1996 were principally spent running a construction company with his Dad, so he knows the ins and outs of building construction. Upon his Dad’s retirement, Ryan transitioned into cost consulting where he gained hands on experience on design and engineering projects including museums, temples and other cultural projects ranging up to $250M. He also picked up a degree along the way in biomedical engineering!
Ryan has collaborated with design and construction teams for projects in the US and has assisted in varying capacity, design and construction teams.

Background and Experience:
Sean Ryan, FRICS, a Principal of Venue, is an accomplished Cost Consultant credited with many highly successful performing, visual, educational, entertainment arts and museum projects under his “cost control” belt, spanning a 40 year career. Over 20 years have been on performing and visual arts projects internationally and in the US spread over 37 states and 80 cities.
Projects vary in scope from a $10 million renovation project to a $1.2 billion masterplan study, and everything in between.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1976: Qualified as a Quantity Surveyor in Construction Management and Economics from The Dublin Institute of Technology

Steve Ryan, BS, QS, LEED AP, a Principal of Venue, is an accomplished Cost Consultant credited with many highly successful performing, visual, educational, entertainment arts and museum projects under his “cost control” belt, spanning a 35 year career.
Over 20 years have been on performing and visual arts projects internationally and in the US spread over 37 states and 80 cities. Projects vary in scope from music, theatre, opera and multi-use facilities with construction costs ranging from $10 million to over $500 million, and everything in between.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Steve originally hails from South Africa
- 1985: Qualified as a Quantity Surveyor in Construction Management and Economics from the University of Cape Town.
- 1986: Moved to London to further his quantity surveying career
